Fertility Consult & Assessment

Building a family through assisted reproductive technology requires both emotional and practical guidance. In collaboration with fertility clinics and following the rigorous standards set by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, I offer specialized consultation services. Whether you're a recipient parent, donor, or gestational carrier, I provide thorough assessments and support to help you navigate these complex decisions with confidence.

Each step of this process carries emotional weight, and my goal is to ensure that you feel informed, supported, and understood as we work through the legal, ethical, and psychological aspects of assisted reproduction.

Reproductive Support Services

Family-Building Parents

Intended/Recipient Parent Consultation

This supportive 60-90 minute session is designed to help intended parents prepare emotionally and practically for third-party reproduction. Together, we’ll explore your family-building plan, discuss your emotional readiness, and address any concerns you may have about the process. Whether you're navigating this journey alone or with a partner, the session provides a space to talk through important decisions, establish coping strategies, and ensure you feel confident moving forward. This consultation is not an evaluation, but rather an opportunity for education, support, and guidance as you take the next steps toward parenthood.

Joint Session

This 60-90 minute meeting brings together all parties involved in the journey, including spouses where applicable. After individual sessions, we will collectively explore key topics that require further discussion and education. Together, we’ll address how your family expansion process impacts relationships, when and how to share information with family, and the expectations for future interactions. This session specifically focuses on directed donation and gestational carriers, providing a supportive space for you to establish your role as parents and foster open communication among all parties. If necessary, we can coordinate with therapists in other locations to facilitate participation for those who may be outside of Alaska.

Donors and Carriers

Candidate Clinical Interview

This 90-120 minute session is designed for both gestational carrier and gamete donor candidates, and includes participation from their spouse or partner (if applicable). During this meeting, we explore each candidate’s psychological functioning, emotional stability, and motivations for their role. We’ll discuss important aspects of their lifestyle, health history, and home environment, as well as any previous experiences with pregnancy, parenthood, or donation.

Additionally, we will cover the emotional and physical aspects of the donation or surrogacy process, including informed consent, support systems, and expectations for the journey ahead. Together, we’ll address potential challenges and discuss important topics like genetic testing, pregnancy termination (for surrogates), and communication plans during and after the process. This clinical interview focuses on assessing psychological readiness for the roles of gestational carrier or gamete donor, ensuring candidates feel informed and supported throughout their journey.

Candidate Psychological Assessment

This 30-60 minute assessment follows the Clinical Interview for both gestational carrier and gamete donor candidates. It consists of a standardized self-report inventory designed to evaluate general personality traits, attitudes, behaviors, and mental health, providing insights into their psychological readiness for the role. This assessment ensures candidates feel informed and supported in their decision-making process while determining if they are appropriate and able to become a donor or gestational carrier.

For non-identified donors, we’ll also discuss the implications of anonymity in relation to future family dynamics. This session provides a supportive space for you to establish your role as parents and foster open communication among all parties. If necessary, we can coordinate with therapists in other locations to facilitate participation for those who may be outside of Alaska.

Embryo Donors

I am not currently offering embryo donation services, but I plan to include this option in the future. Please check back for updates on when these services will be available.
